Frequently Asked Questions
Investment FAQ’s
Do I have to use The Claims Shop to make a claim?
No! There’s no obligation to use our services, and you’re free to pursue your own claim in your own time. Here are the links to the organisations you may need to liaise with in order to make your complaint:
- The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)
- The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS)
- The Pensions Ombudsman (PO)
How much do you charge?
Successful claims are subject to the Success Fee of 24% inclusive of VAT of any monies awarded to the claim. You will have a 14-day Cooling-Off period, during which time you may cancel at any time, after which the Cancellation Fee is applicable. See SIPP Terms of Business for full details.
How long will my claim take?
Unfortunately due to the complex nature of financial claims we can’t give you a definitive timescale. We have had successful claims in as little as 24 weeks, and some have taken as much as 52 weeks. It really does depend on the complexity of the claim.
What is an IFA?
Independent Financial Advisers or IFAs are professionals who offer independent advice on financial matters to their clients and recommend suitable financial products from the whole of the market. The term was developed to reflect a United Kingdom (UK) regulatory position and has a specific UK meaning, although it has been adopted in other parts of the world, such as Hong Kong.
What is a SIPP?
A Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) is the name given to the type of UK government-approved personal pension scheme, which allows individuals to make their own investment decisions from the full range of investments approved by HM Revenue and Customs.
What is a SIPP provider?
A SIPP Provider is the company who “manages” your SIPP pension for you.
